Subject-Wise Preparation Tips for JEE Main
Physics
- In JEE Main 2024, understanding concepts and solving question papers are the keys to scoring well in Physics. If you don’t understand the concept you will not be able to solve a numerical question. So, be perfect with the concepts.
- Always read the theory first, then start solving the MCQs of books. After that solace the MCQs of previous years’ question papers.
- Set a time limit for solving a practice paper, it will increase your speed of solving, analyzing power and make you fond of concepts and at some time the formulas as well.
- Be focused when solving any problem and careful about the signs and units.
Chemistry
- Don’t start to memorize everything in Chemistry. Focus on understanding the fundamental concepts, then it will be easier to memorize other stuff.
- Keep short notes of all formulas and equations after completing the chapters.
- Refer to the books of NCERT, Arihant, etc.
- In Organic Chemistry, study all reaction mechanisms and remember all named reactions. Make notes of each chapter.
Mathematics
- Candidates are advised to practice more and more to bring a good score in JEE Main 2024.
- Give special attention to your problem-solving skills.
- The concepts and formulas should be at your fingertips. Know every shortcut and formula possible.
Things to Avoid in Preparation for JEE Main 2024
- Backlogs: Candidates are advised not to keep any backlogs. You don’t need to procrastinate in JEE Main 2024 Preparation. Make a good habit of finishing work and assignments on time to achieve your goal.
- TV/Social Media/Video Games: Avoid everything which destroys your precious time. Give that time in your preparation because JEE Main 2024 Preparation needs your focus and dedication.
- Reading too many Books: Quality matters more than quantity. The number of books you read is not proportional to your chances of clearing JEE. You need to be aware of what’s in the syllabus and avoid questions that are above the exam level.
- Not Understanding Concepts: Don’t mug up things. Avoid cramming unless it’s some chemistry part or basic formulas.
- Depression for Low Score in Test: As much as you attend tests, you will be improving yourself. Monthly tests or practice tests are just to analyze your understanding and learning. It’s a way to learn from your mistakes.
- Depending on Self Study: There is a reason for giving credit to the teachers who have helped the candidates to clear JEE. The teachers have experience in preparing students for JEE every year. They will resolve your doubts, correct your mistakes, and show you the correct way to prepare.

How to Attempt JEE Mains Paper 2024? Section-wise Ideal Attempts
With the increasing competition in JEE Main, it is a must for the candidates to set specific targets. Here are some section-wise tips that can assist you in finding the accurate paper-attempting approach:
- Mathematics: The mathematics level has been easy to moderate for 3 years and topics like Matrices, Vector 3D, and Determinants are some of the high-scoring topics.
- A person is likely to score 45-50 marks if he/she attempts 20 questions in Mathematics with 60% accuracy provided the candidate attempts all integer questions(non-negative questions).
- More emphasis should be laid on attempting integer questions rather than single-choice questions.
- Physics: For the last 5 years, Physics has been the toughest section. The section includes a lot of lengthy questions. The numerical part of the paper is generally asked from the 11th standard whereas the conceptual part is mostly from the 12th standard.
- With a 70% accuracy, if a candidate attempts 15 questions of the Physics section, he/she can score more than 30 marks.
- Chemistry: The Chemistry section is believed to be the easiest one where organic and inorganic questions are more of a conceptual type. These questions should be given more focus due to direct correspondence with respective options.
- If a candidate can attempt 22 Chemistry questions with 80% accuracy, he/she can score more than 60 marks.
JEE Mains Marks vs Percentile vs Rank
- JEE Main Percentage defines a candidate’s marks, whereas JEE Percentile defines the position of the candidate amongst others.
- If a student says he/she has 90 percentile, this means that there are 10 percent of students above him/her who have secured higher marks.
- Here’s an expected JEE Main Marks vs Percentile range estimate for 2024 session:
