Miniature art (historically known as limning or painting in little) is a genre that focuses on art, especially painting, engraving and sculpture, with a long history that dates back to the scribes of the medieval ages. Miniatures are executed on a very small scale for books or albums on perishable material such as paper and cloth but here and now, in the 21st century, miniature art (like all art) has evolved with the times. Here, we pay homage to one of our century’s, and generations’, miniature artists, Minicheps.
Catherine Jepkemboi aka Minicheps is a comedian, content creator and photographer with a “small” difference (excuse the pun). She started out as a photographer in 2019, with the intent of posting her work online, when her significant other suggested adding the miniature aspect to her photography, thus creating “minicheps”(minnie-cheps). She is a mother of two, which brings a different kind of miniature joy into the mix. She is self taught and gets her inspiration from everyday life and tasks that would otherwise seem mundane, as you can see from her work.
