Winner - Digital Art - 2018
Sondeka Awards

I edit my work on my laptop and in the end, it is digital, but it starts with the humblest of art beginnings; pencil on paper. With my drawings, I try to capture the feel of what it's like to be a black girl living in 21st century Africa. Through my art people get a peek at what kinds of things I aspire to, what makes me laugh, what makes me cry, what do my friends and I talk about, who are my friends, what do we like to eat etc. I have found that a lot of people my peers from different nationalities, backgrounds and even countries have found my work to be relatable which is truly humbling, and more than I could ever dare ask for.
